Same here. Same feeling I had watching Dick Proenekke build his Alaskan cabin.

Wow !! being a craftsman and live off the land kinda guy myself this was much appreciated, me and my wife watched together ......wonderful.
Cesar goes pretty good for a man 67.
The sound an sight was excellent....the only thing that could have been added was smell-a-vision.....thanks MTG

That was cool...I actually watched the whole thing. That birch bark canoe is basically a finely made basket. I'll bet there is a substantial collectors market for his work...I wonder how much he gets for one?

Big deal, I can do that. ;)

--------

Really, I think if I striped the bark off in "early spring", I'd still be trying to get the damned thing together in "early fall".
,,,,,,,
-On second thought, it'd probably be easier for me to just wait for the lake to freeze over in winter, and then I'll just walk across.

-end-

Yeah - love that stuff, and he didn't need permits or inspections.

Wonderful stuff. :applause_

Did anybody grasp how long it actually took Cesar to make his canoe?

Cool man. I was born and raised in Qubec and I owned a birch bark canoe. Although it wasn't as fast or durable as a fiberglass or aluminum canoe, it was a very esthetically pleasing boat. I can always trust the great people of GIM for interesting items like this link. Thanks.

What a master craftsman! Norm Abram has nothing on this guy.

Watching the video it reminds me how important it is to use sharp tools (no matter what the job).
